Owners Greg Kowalczyk and Ronnie Vojka purchased the building that was formerly run as Sheelen’s Crossing on 200 South Ave, Fanwood, NJ. The real estate transaction was on Nov. 16, 2023 and was announced via social media.
The eatery has been involved in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood community through holding fundraisers, serving customers, and winning awards for their work.
The ultimatum of this financial decision was the long lines, especially on weekends.
“We’ve outgrown our footprint here. With the amount of patrons that we have now, it’s overwhelming,” Kowalczyk told The Fanscotian.
Last year, Fabio’s was rated the No. 1 pizzeria in the country by the delivery app Slice. The change of scenery is expected to further increase the prosperity of the business.
“Across the street [in the new building], our kitchens will be five to six times larger than what it is here, so we’ll be able to pump out more food a lot quicker,” Kowalczyk said.
The team is hoping to carry out the envisioned layout soon so they can open up the new restaurant in December this year.
“We’re looking to break ground within three months, so we can open the new place by December. It’s going to be a stretch, but we want to redesign the whole inside of it. We have one shot to do this right so we’ve got to take our time,” Kowalczyk said.
