In Dec. 2023, the president of SPFHS’ Care for Kid’s club received a phone call from the Union County Boys and Girls Club. On the call, she was informed that the club was being awarded for their positive impact on the organization. This recognition gave the growing club a boost in success to fulfill their mission of influencing children’s lives.
“The Boys and Girls Club is a national organization–[with] various locations–[whose] mission is to provide services to young children, empowering and enabling them to succeed and reach their full potential,” senior Kelly Stewart told The Fanscotian. “Our club is dedicated to providing the [same] support to children and families in need.”
Care for Kids Club adopts the Boys and Girls Club mission as part of their own, as they continue to run holiday themed events and donate for the local children in coordination with the Union County located organization. They are always accepting new members, as the high school community is what makes this aspired mission possible.
The three-year club was invited for the Boys and Girls Club’s potluck dinner on Dec. 20, 2023 to be recognized for bringing joy to many children at their partnered events since the club’s founding.
“[Care for Kids] is a great way to earn service hours, help out the local community, and gain leadership experience!” Stewart said.
This club is widely praised by the SPF community. They have given underprivileged children access to opportunities that SPFHS students cannot imagine their lives without.
