As Sharpay and Ryan Evans sang in the famous “High School Musical” song “Fabulous,” “It’s out with the old and in with the new, goodbye clouds of gray, hello skies of blue.” Many people know 40 S. Martine Ave as Benny Nails, but it has now become Lilly Nails.
At Benny Nails, customers noted that the staff was very nice, relatable and friendly. However, they also complained that Benny nails was overpriced and that their nails were done poorly. The nail color would stretch, chip easily, have bubbles and sometimes they wouldn’t clean or cut cuticles, causing many customers to not return for another appointment. Regardless of negative reviews from some customers, others were regulars and refused to go anywhere else.
English teacher Jennifer Sorrentino has been going there for a long time and weighed in on her experience with the new salon and the old salon. Here is her take on the old salon first.
“The people who worked [at Benny Nails] were super sweet and accommodating. I really liked going there because of the people,” Sorrentino said.
Many said that at Lilly Nails it is very easy to get an appointment. I personally go there because they have great service and tons of designs, colors and nail shapes for customers to choose from. Also, I do believe that Benny Nails was a little overpriced. Lilly Nails always does a great job with my nails and for a lower cost. Their prices have dropped by $3 to $5 and they offer 20% frequent customer cards.
Lilly Nails is very clean and they give discounts if you pay with cash. The owner, Lili, has 18 years of experience. She is very knowledgeable, passionate and patient with customers.
Lilly Nails has made tons of great changes and upgrades. They have new nail tables and a massage chair. They offer UV Gel, SNS, Color Gel, Acrylic, Manicure, Pedicure, nail designs, eyelash extension and full body waxing.
“I love Lilly Nails. The new owner Lilly and her team have made so many improvements to the Nail Salon,” Sorrentino said. “They have a bunch of new gel polishes and colors and they are really skilled and good with they’re craft. They are always available for appointments and It’s very clean and overall, I really enjoy the experience there. They seem to be making some great improvements to the shop.”
