With 400 seniors at SPFHS, one may wonder how all their vehicles fit in the senior parking lot. Well, they don’t. The SPFHS Senior parking lot is run through a lottery system. Every Aug. 2 an email goes out to all the seniors about parking and how to apply for it. The cut off for applying for a spot in the lot is August 22nd, so anyone who has a birthday after that doesn’t have a chance of getting a spot in the Senior lot.
The Fanscotian spoke to some seniors and got their take on the parking lot situation. Senior Hanna McCann explained her current parking situation.
“No, I did not get a spot. The reason is because my birthday was after the due date,” McCann told The Fanscotian.
The seniors have to wait a month to find out if they got a spot in the lot or not. Once you get an email saying you can retrieve your parking permit, you hope that you get a spot in the Senior lot. If you get a spot in the lot congrats, but if you didn’t you probably got a spot in the Green Forest parking lot down the street from the high school or on some street close to the high school.
Many seniors who didn’t get a spot in the SPF senior lot were very upset or annoyed because of how far they live from the high school. Because of this, there has been a lot of controversy about how the student lot works.
Senior Bella Campanile was also asked if she got a spot in the parking lot, and about her opinion about the system of getting a spot in the parking lot.
“If you turn your form in first, you deserve a spot because you were aware and almost want it more,” Campanile said. “I don’t really like the lottery, but I can’t complain, I got a spot at the lot. I got spot 308. It’s honestly a good spot. It’s like right in the middle.”
So that’s how the Senior Parking lot works at SPFHS and what the students think about how the system works for getting a parking spot. So if you want to get a spot in the senior lot for senior year get that paperwork in right away so you can get one!Phg
