Over the weekend, Leah Klurman, star defender for the Lady Raiders, announced her commitment via social media to play division one soccer at the University of Tennessee.
“I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to play soccer at The University of Tennessee,” Klurman said via Instagram. “I would like to thank my coaches, friends, and especially my family for supporting me throughout this process.”
Klurman has been an integral part of the Lady Raiders squad since her freshman year, notably starting as the center back the past two years. During her time as a starter, the Lady Raiders have gone an incredible 26-4-2.
“When I finally announced my commitment, it was the most rewarding feeling I have ever felt in my life,” Klurman said. “To receive so many texts and calls felt so amazing. Everything I had worked for behind the scenes finally paid off for everyone to see.”
For the Lady Raiders to win their first-ever state championship this fall, Klurman will likely play a key part in that effort.
Klurman and the Lady Raider’s next game will be against the winner of Union vs Union Catholic in the quarterfinals of the Union County tournament at home. A tentative date for the game will be Friday, Nov 6 at 11:30 a.m.
