It’s no surprise that Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School is filled with talented and conscientious students. However, every month, two students are nominated by one of their teachers to be Students of the Month. December’s honorees are junior Ryann Wall and sophomore Zachary Mawby.
Both of these students are not only incredibly bright, young adults but also have a positive and hard-working attitude in the classroom.
“I think I’m a pretty diligent student, I get all of my work done on time, I make sure that I participate in class and I try to have good relationships with my teachers and my classmates. I think between my hard work and the connections that I make in school, I earned this award,” Wall said.
While it’s important to focus on her own work, Wall makes sure that she helps her peers when needed and is always ready to learn something new. Wall also recognizes the importance of having a good relationship with one’s teachers, even if it’s just a simple “hello” or “goodbye.”
As Student of the Month, there’s no doubt that Mawby works really hard in school and is always kind towards his classmates and teachers. Like Wall, Mawby is really invested in his school work but also knows to take a break every now and then.
“I think you have to try not to take it [school work] too seriously or get too anxious about it. I think you just have to try to have fun in school,” Mawby said.
December’s Students of the Month Mawby and Wall are focused and driven students that represent SPFHS very well.
