On Tuesday, June 4, the Student Government Association (SGA) at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School hosted a movie night on the back lawn. Students were able to watch “Happy Gilmore” and hangout under the stars while watching the movie on a huge inflatable screen. Pizza, snacks and drinks were also served at movie night.
The movie kicked off at around 7:30 p.m. and went to about 10:00 p.m. Students were able to watch “Happy Gilmore”, a movie starring Adam Sandler and Julie Bowen. The movie follows a hockey player turned golf pro (Happy Gilmore) and his journey into the world of golf. Along the way Happy never fails to crack a joke and try to make the best of his situation.
“I think movie night went really well and the feedback from the student body was great,” junior SGA representative Lauren Kieltyka said. “Students really loved coming together and hanging out outside of school.”
Movie night was a great way for students to get to know each other outside of school. Students could meet other students that they wouldn’t otherwise meet in their classes or extracurriculars.
“I think that movie night gave students a sense of community,” senior SGA representative Rosie Barnes-Lilye said. “It showed us that we can come together, even if we are in a small group, and enjoy each other’s company without using a phone.”
