Hi! My name is Melanie Litwin and I’ve been an Editor-in-Chief of the Fanscotian for the 2018-2019 school year. However, I have numerous passions outside of writing, so I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about my senior project.
For the next month, I will be creating artwork for my nonprofit Etsy shop, “CreateMoreSmiles.” I have always loved creating art, and I wanted to find a way to use that passion to do good in the world. All of the proceeds from my sales are donated to the Global Girls Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation that focuses on empowering girls worldwide through education. They have projects going on all across the globe that work to provide girls with education and new opportunities.
Not only does my shop raise funds for the foundation, but it also spreads positivity. All of my artwork is centered around themes of optimism and self-love. I create a variety of handmade products—including small paintings, sets of glass magnets, signs, painted rocks, and more! I also do customized artwork by request. No matter the form, each piece sends an uplifting and inspiring message.
During senior project, I will be producing at least three new products per week to list in the shop. However, in addition to the art, I will be posting weekly online articles for The Fanscotian on topics such as the origins of the shop, process of creating artwork for it, information on the Global Girls Alliance, etc. Also, I will be making a promotional video for “CreateMoreSmiles” which will be posted online at the end of the project as a form of advertisement.
If you’re interested, check out “CreateMoreSmiles” at www.etsy.com/shop/CreateMoreSmiles and be sure to keep checking back, as new art will be added each week!
