Alumni, from left, David Lavery, ’00, Brad Belford, ’02, Christian Ostrowski, ’00, and David Belford, ’07, lead the Scotch Plains Memorial Day parade as Grand Marshals on May 26.
All four are Scotch Plains police officers, who served their country as members of the U.S. Marine Corps and were deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Ostrowski, Lavery and Brad Belford have been honorably discharged. Dave Belford still serves and holds the rank of E-4/Corporal. Ostrowski won the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat Valor and the Combat Action ribbon.
“I’m honored to have these four young men serving on our police department. Their commitment to public safety goes way beyond the borders of Scotch Plains,” said Chief of Police Brian Mahoney. “For these men to serve both here at home and overseas in our military shows a true dedication to what is right and just in our way of life.”
