Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School’s chapter of the Junior Statesmen of America attended the Mid-Atlantic State Winter Congress in Washington D.C. the weekend of Feb. 24 to 26. A team consisting of seniors Luke Dodge, Dominika Blach, Eli Ben-Michael, and JSA President Russell Davis also won the Quiz Bowl event while Ben-Michael and Dodge were voted Best Speakers by their respective comittee members. “We brought 37 students, which is the most SPF JSA has ever brought to a conference. We had a pretty strong presence as a delegation,” said Davis. More than 1,000 students met to debate student-created bills, which would then be brought before larger committees to be passed as “laws.”
