A new year means new tv shows, and Netflix has many to offer. Here are some of Netflix’s most anticipated tv shows that are coming soon in 2019.

“Stranger Things” Season 3

“Stranger Things” is arguably one of Netflix’s most acclaimed originals. The first season, which premiered in 2016, took the world by storm and the second season, which premiered the following year, only earned the show a larger fanbase. While the plot of the third season is, at the moment, unknown, beloved characters such as Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the rest of the gang will return on July 4, 2019, with some good 80s nostalgia and more mysteries about the Upside Down.

“Marvel’s The Punisher” Season 2

The spin-off of “Marvel’s Daredevil,” John Bernthal returns on screen as Frank Castle, aka the vigilante known as “The Punisher.” Using this persona, Castle employs lethal methods of violence to fight crime that contaminates the city. In the second season, Castle has been living a quiet life on the road until he finds himself drawn into the mystery of Amy Bendix, while also struggling with whether he should embrace his life as the Punisher. This action crime-thriller’s second season will be released on Jan. 18, 2019.

“Carmen Sandiego”

Starting out as a franchise of educational mystery video games dating back to 1985, “Carmen Sandiego” has now adapted into a series. The titular character is a modern day Robin Hood, who travels around the world to steal from an organization known as V.I.L.E., while giving back to their victims. Just like Robin Hood, she is seen as a criminal and through following her adventures, the audience can determine where–and WHO–in the world is Carmen Sandiego. Find out the answer to this question by watching the first episode, which was released on Jan. 18, 2019.

“The Witcher”

Based off of a book series of the same name, this fantasy drama gets its TV adaptation sometime in 2019. In a fictional fantasy world where people who prove themselves to be less than human, Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) tries to find a place where he belongs. On his journey, fate finds him a princess and a powerful sorceress. The three must learn how to work their way around their cruel world. While there’s an unknown release date, this anticipated tv adaptation will be released sometime this year.
